When dabbing concentrates, the objective is all about achieving temperature consistency to get the optimum vaping experience. If your nail is too cold the dab will pool at the base, giving off little to no vapor.
If you can’t control the heat at the other end of the spectrum and your nail becomes too hot the user is left with a dab that tastes and smells like overheated melted plastic scorched in its own carbon dust. Not the desired effect when you’ve just spent all that money purchasing an expensive high quality concentrate.
What is an eNail?
Electric dab nails are often designed as metal boxes with a port for a coil, a switch or two, and a PID (Proportional, Integral, Derivative) that constantly gauges your coil’s current temperature.
Usually the gauge can be turned on separately from the coil in order to allow the user to prevent themselves from getting burned. Coils tend come in two different sizes; either 16 or 20 millimeters, and will only work with nails that have been designed for coils of that size.
Setting the correct temperature is crucial and using a carb cap is also essential, this causes the chamber to billow up during a low temp. New electric dab nail rigs have earned their positive reputation due to the use of advanced and quality components; high powered batteries and nails made from titanium, ceramic, or quartz.
How does using an e nail dab rig improve the vaping experience for wax, extracts & concentrates?
By using a controllable electric heating element the e nail dab rig is designed to maintain both a high and constant temperature allowing for optimal vaporization.
Meaning users can vape wax or concentrates at a much higher temperature than with prior rigs and, also far more more precisely than a standard vape pen. The result, a perfect vaping experience.
How Does an e-Nail Work ?
The wax or extract is placed on the e-nail, and the battery heats the e nail dab rig to a temperature that can go as high as 1000°F in just a matter of seconds.
The technology behind the e-nail is simple, units are typically comprised of a controller box which delivers heat through a coil that connects directly with the nail itself. These boxes allow for the controlled manipulation of temperature to the nail, granting users the ability to regulate heat to their rig with the touch of a button.
With the e-nail, dabbers simply turn the unit on, set a desired temperature, and wait for the unit to indicate that it has reached the required temperature before dabbing without worrying about heat variability.
Typically E-Nails are intended for home use and vape pens are still the choice for vaping on the go. Portable e-nail for dabs are coming onto the market as the technology improves, rigs are becoming smaller, more affordable, and easier to use.
This means no more imprecise butane torches and the issues that go with using them. Lack of control over heat that can destroy your rig or glass bong, constantly having to move the flame around and of course the risk of fire or explosions.
How To Use A E-Nail Dab Rig
User manuals for using electric dab nail’s are still hard to come by so here are our simple instructions to ensure that you get the best from yours.
Connect PID To The Controller
Aline the barrel shape enail coil and the quartz banger, gently put the quartz banger into the coil
Titanium Dab E Nails:
Screw off the top plate of the titanium nail, then place the coil in the middle of the nail then screw the top plate on again
Turn On your PID Controller on and ensure you set your temperature correctly. For low-temperature dabs, set between 300~500 degrees Fahrenheit and high-temperature dabs set from 600F and up The enail quartz banger is best for low-temperature dabbing and titanium enails are the best for high-temperatures.
Finally, don’t touch that coil for at least 15 minutes after using and as with any piece of kit always clean regularly. Don’t clean with water an alcohol wipe will do the job.
It’s All About The E Nail Dab Rig
Most users say that the electric nail can change the dab’s flavor, each in their own unique way.
Flavor is always subjective and most users recommend that trying a ceramic nail should be the first option but if you prefer an enail that does not alter the dab’s flavor, then a quartz one would be the best.
In terms of durability ceramic, glass, and quartz enails are all similar and it’s worth noting that all can break easily if dropped.
Titanium enails, on the other hand, are stronger and will last longer. They also easily survive constant heating and cooling and do not take a long time to heat.
However most users note that titanium nails do tend change the flavor of the dab in a way that isn’t to some people’s taste and can also get too hot when used for longer sessions.
Ceramic enails will give a unique flavour and aren’t expensive. However, they’re not durable and require some time to heat.
Happy dabbing with the best in new tech e nail dab rigs.
